In Pursuit of (Gut) Happiness with Dalci

The New Year is right around the corner. Have you started to consider your New year’s resolutions and goals? Perhaps it’s taking on meditation, or spending less time on the phone, or maybe it is (my personal favorite!) eating a more gut-friendly diet.

This goal could, and should, include the obvious; more vegetables and less fast-food. But, gut health is so much greater than that! In order to be successful, the first step is all about awareness. It’s important to get really confident in your label reading, mastering the grocery store, and understanding the benefit of the ingredients in your foods!

Pursuing Gut Health

This year, actually, many of our patients have had a desire to improve their gut health! Our nutrition interventions include increasing the consumption of fermented foods, reducing inflammatory refined sugar and oils, along with decreasing the usage of fake sugar.

I challenge you to make the simple swaps in your kitchen for gut-healthy ingredients and products. Want to try a few easy implementations? Add sauerkraut to your burger and kimchi to an Asian salad. And, always read the labels or processed foods before they jump into your cart! Our patients become masters of label reading – spotting inflammatory ingredients in a hot second.

Already worried that gut health means no sweet treats? Think again. I’ve found the best of both worlds – dalci; a delicious gut-healthy, better for you brownie.

Looking for a sweet healthy snacking solution that meets the requirements for an anti-inflammatory diet? That’s where dalci comes in. I love dalci brownies and blondies because they’re free from refined sugar, dairy, gluten, soy, hydrogenated oils, sugar alcohols, additives, gums, and emulsifiers   These ingredients and additives trigger the gut to react and in turn, cause the body discomfort as gut dysbiosis occurs. Swapping out inflammatory foods for whole-food based ingredients is a simple action that can better your health.

Unlike conventional brownies, dalci uses wholesome ingredients rich in healthful omega-3 fatty acids and unsaturated fats, like almond flour and avocado oil.  Their products are also free of grains, dairy and soy; top contributors to exacerbating gut health and bloating.

Take a deeper look into the ingredients in a gut-friendly brownie to see what the hype is all about and why Dalci is Whitness Approved.

  • Almond Flour vs White Flour: Almond flour is high-fiber, low glycemic. and higher in protein than white flour. Additionally, it’s minimally processed and doesn’t go through the bleaching and chemical processing of all purpose flour.
  • Coconut Sugar vs Cane Sugar: Coconut sugar is a natural, low GI sweetener derived from coconut palm trees that won’t cause the spike in insulin levels like cane sugar does. Furthermore, coconut sugar naturally contains inulin, a type of plant-based prebiotic fiber that feeds the healthy bacteria in your gut to support overall digestive health.
  • Avocado Oil vs Vegetable Oil: Avocado oil is rich in monounsaturated fats, a.k.a healthy fats, that support heart health, brain health and overall better nutrient absorption. Additionally, it goes through less processing than your standard vegetable oil and keeps the most essential nutrients whole throughout the whole process of avocado to avocado oil.

What is dalci’s superpower?

These brownies don’t rely on probiotic additives for their goodness, but rather the combination of wholesome ingredients to derive natural gut health benefits. This means – no added prebiotics such as chicory root fiber, which have been shown to cause bloating, gas and overall digestive disruption.

If the impressive ingredients and standout facts about dalci brownies don’t already wow you, just remember that dalci is also free of everything that is capable of contributing to inflammation and gut dysbiosis: gluten, dairy, soy, grain, refined sugar, sugar alcohols, hydrogenated oils, and preservatives.

You can find dalci soft baked desserts available in four delicious flavors:: Dark Chocolate, Almond Butter Dark Chocolate (Chase’s favorite), Apple Spice (Elena’s favorite), and Lemon Coconut (Whit’s favorite). Each of the flavors contain less than 20g of carbohydrates, a nice dose of healthy fat, all while maintaining the desirable brownie texture, flavor and appearance.
